BIOGRAPHY

Sergiy Volodymyrovych Kyurchev was born on April 27, 1977, in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region.

In 1999 he graduated from Tavria State Agrotechnical Academy (TSAA) with a degree in “Mechanization of Agriculture.” His further professional career is closely connected with Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University.

From 1999 to 2003 he held positions as an assistant at the Department of Livestock Mechanization and later at the Department of Tractors and Automobiles.

In 2003 he defended his PhD thesis in the specialty “Machines and Means of Agricultural Production Mechanization” at the Luhansk National Agrarian University.

From 2004 to 2005 he worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Tractors and Automobiles.

Since 2005 he has been an associate professor at the Department of Technology of Structural Materials, and since 2006, the head of the department.

From 2008 to 2021 he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Technology.

In 2016 he was awarded the academic title of Professor at the Department of Technologies of Structural Materials

In 2016 he became a member of the Industry Scientific and Methodological Commission of the Higher Education Sector of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for the specialty 208 “Agroengineering.”

In 2019 he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences at the Specialized Academic Council of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture” of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.

In November 2021 he was elected by the university staff as the Rector of Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University.

By the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 505-k dated December 23, 2021, Sergiy Volodymyrovych Kyurchev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, was appointed as the Rector of Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University for a term of five years from December 24, 2021, to December 23, 2026, based on the results of a competitive selection, under the conditions outlined in the contract.

SCIENTIFIC WORK

Sergiy Volodymyrovych actively combines his teaching activities with scientific research. His professional and scientific interests include industrial hydraulics and pneumatics, tribology, and advanced technologies in the field of equipment for processing and food production, as well as the storage of agricultural products using modern approaches.
He has participated in numerous international and national scientific-practical conferences and congresses dedicated to issues of industrial hydraulics and pneumatics. He is the author and co-author of over 200 publications, including those indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science scientometric databases.
Under his supervision, 5 PhD theses have been successfully defended.
He is part of a group of educators involved in developing new higher education standards in Ukraine.

PUBLIC ACTIVITIES

Sergiy Volodymyrovych is actively engaged in public service. Since 2010, he has been elected as a deputy of the Melitopol City Council. In 2020, he was elected for the third time and currently he is the head of the City Council’s permanent commission on humanitarian issues, anti-corruption, legality, regulations, and deputy activities and ethics.
