The Department of Computer Science trains specialists in speciality 122 Computer Science at two levels of higher education: bachelor’s degree (Computer Science educational program) and master’s degree (Computer Science educational program). Currently, the department employs 12 lecturers, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 5 senior lecturers and 1 assistant.
More than 50 different disciplines focused on modern information technologies are taught at the department. The department staff constantly works on improving the educational process, improving the material and technical base and educational and methodological support, which contributes to increasing the level of professional and scientific training of graduates, their competitiveness on the labour market in the field of information technologies.
The Department of Computer Science has a powerful educational and laboratory base, which consists of five classrooms equipped with modern hardware and software. The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department pay great attention to the practical training of students. The department organizes production and technological internships at the leading enterprises of the region, educational internships, research and pre-diploma internships, etc. Dual education is possible for computer science students. This form of organization of the educational process contributes to increasing the level of practical training of students and improving professional competences, which have a positive effect on further employment.
Scientific and research work, namely the publication activity in publications indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, professional publications of categories A and B, preparation of reports for scientific and practical conferences of various levels takes the important place in the life of the department. The annual All-Ukrainian scientific and practical Internet conference “Modern computer and information systems and technologies” is organized on the basis of the Department of Computer Science.
The department pays a lot of attention to the scientific work of students. Student scientific groups of the department work on the following topics: geometric modelling of phenomena and processes based on computer vision and computer graphics methods; information systems and technologies in modern society; modern information technologies in the educational process; intelligent and expert systems; tools for publishing computer ontologies; web design and layout of web pages; computer graphics, design and video editing, etc. Subject-specific student Olympiads in programming, web design, etc. are held every year.
The staff of the department takes care of further employment of graduates of speciality 122 Computer Science. The department maintains close relations with employers – customers of specialists-to-be, has extensive scientific contacts and relations with leading IT companies of the region, cooperates with leading scientific institutions and higher education institutions of Ukraine.
Our graduates are specialists who have a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of computing, programming, information systems and technologies. They are employed at various IT enterprises, state institutions, industrial productions of all forms of ownership, etc.
