The Department of Machine Operation and Technical Service was organized on August 15, 2022 by merging the Department of Machine Use in Agriculture and the Department of Technical Service and Systems in Agro-Industrial Complex. The educational process and research of the department is provided by highly qualified scientific and pedagogical staff: seven Doctors of Technical Sciences, professors, seven Candidates of Technical Sciences, associate professors, three senior lecturers, one associate and highly professional support staff. Today the department is the degree-granting department for the Agroengineering speciality.

The material and technical of the department base has been constantly improved for many years. Today, the educational process is provided by appropriately equipped special laboratories, among which the unique ones are the laboratory for modelling the technological processes of tillage and sowing machines, the educational and scientific laboratory for the maintenance and breeding of quails and the laboratory for the development of technologies and technological equipment for the processing of oilseeds. There are laboratories of technical service of machines, which are equipped with workplaces and sets of diagnostic devices. The laboratories include equipment for repair of hydraulic system units, welding and restoration of machine parts, adjustment of diesel fuel equipment, running-in and testing of units.

The laboratory of fuels and lubricants is equipped with equipment for laboratory work on determining the solidification temperature and cloudiness of fuels and lubricants. Laboratories for the maintenance and technological service of animals and poultry include a full range of equipment for feed preparation and distribution, creating an optimal microclimate in livestock buildings, milking cows and primary milk processing.

Teachers of the department apply progressive teaching methods using innovative technologies, conduct interactive lectures, develop electronic manuals, textbooks, create training and control programs, develop virtual laboratory and practical work.

In order to form practical skills in conditions close to production for students, laboratory and practical classes are held at the department. The department carries out scientific activities in the following areas:
– development of technologies and technological equipment for energy and resource saving in technological processes of agro-industrial complex;
– improving the efficiency of technological processes and equipment of food production and agricultural product processing;
– innovative ways of providing technical service of agricultural production;
– development of technological regulations for growing crops using elements of the track farming system.

Scientific schools have been created in these scientific areas at the department.

Student research groups are actively working at the department. Students have repeatedly become winners of all-Ukrainian subject Olympiads, competitions of scientific student works.

Under the guidance of Doctor of Engineering, professor, Corresponding Member of NAAS Volodymyr Nadykto, Doctor of Engineering, professor, Corresponding Member of NAAS Volodymyr Kiurchev, Doctor of Engineering, professor Dmytro Zhuravel, doctoral and postgraduate students are trained in the Industrial Engineering specialty.

The department cooperates with the Institute of Mechanics and Automatics of Agroindustrial Production of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (Glevakha), the M.P. Momotenko Department of Technical Service and Engineering Management of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), Professor O.D. Semkovych Department of Operation and Technical Service of Machines, Lviv National University of Environmental Management (Dubliany), the Department of optimization of technological systems in crop production of the State Biotechnological University (Kharkiv).
