The Department of Higher Mathematics and Physics was created in 2012 after the reorganization of the departments of Higher Mathematics and Physics, Theoretical Mechanics and Theory of Mechanisms and Machines with the aim of optimizing the organizational structure and quality training of highly qualified and competitive specialists.

Today, the department employs six lecturers, including one professor and five associate professors. All lecturers are high-level professionals, creative personalities and talented instructors whose main principles of scientific and pedagogical activity are constant improvement of professional competence and active interaction with students.

The teaching staff of the department works at all faculties of the university and provides teaching of the following academic disciplines:

– Higher mathematics,

– Algebra and geometry,

– Mathematical analysis,

– Differential equations,

– Discrete mathematics,

– Applied mathematics,

– Probability theory and mathematical statistics,

– Mathematical statistics and data analysis,

– Mathematical methods and processing of geodetic measurements,

– Mathematical problems in electric power,

– Mathematical modelling in food technology,

– Mathematical methods of substantiating decisions,

– Systemic analysis of environmental quality,

– Physical and mathematical support of master’s programs.

The lecturers of the department constantly improve the educational process, developing and updating the educational and methodological support for the disciplines of the department using the best experience of other institutions of higher education. For several years, the staff of the department has been working on the scientific research topic “Innovative technologies and methods of professional training of future specialists in institutions of higher agricultural education”, which is reflected in numerous publications in scientific journals, monographs, manuals, guides.

The department has a modern material-technical and scientific-methodological base for the organization of the educational process and monitoring of the physical-mathematical training level of future specialists in the university’s specialities: 4 classrooms, 3 educational physics laboratories, the Mathematical processing of geodesic measurements study.

Research work is a necessary component of the department’s activity.  The teachers participate in the work on state budget and state-contractual scientific topics, publish articles in Ukrainian and foreign journals, indexed by the scientometric databases Scopus, Web of Science, Index Copernicus, and actively participate in scientific conferences of various levels. The department’s lecturers receive patents for utility models and copyright certificates. International and All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conferences are held by the department. Since 2020, the department has been the organizer of the annual international scientific and practical internet conference “Development of modern science and education: realities, quality problems, innovations”.

Talented student youth are involved in scientific and research work. A number of student scientific research groups work at the department. Under the guidance of teachers, students publish articles, participate in international and All-Ukrainian conferences and competitions of various levels. The results of this work are certificates, diplomas and acknowledgments.

Scientific and pedagogical workers undergo internships in Ukraine and abroad. Increasing the professional qualifications of teachers also takes place through informal education: participation in webinars, online courses on professional topics. The department maintains close relations with Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, M.P. Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, Kremenchuh National University named after Mykhailo Ostrohradsky, a separate structural division of the National Aviation University Kirovohrad Flight Academy of the National Aviation University.

One of the priorities of the department’s activity is educational work. The teachers of the department are curators of academic groups. The staff of the department, together with the mentors of academic groups, activates the creative activity of students encouraging them to participate in extracurricular educational and educational activities organized by the department and the university.
