Recently a meeting of the Basin Council of the Azov Rivers was held in Melitopol under the chairmanship of an associate professor of Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University Serhii Movchan. Members of the Basin Council from Donetsk region joined the meeting on Skype.

A number of issues were discussed during the meeting. Representative of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration Iryna Rozovenko reported on the environmental problems of the Utluk estuary.

Acting Deputy Governor of the Azov River БУВР Inna Rybalko acquainted the participants with the stages of developing elements of The Azov River Basin Management Plan.

Deputy Chief of Siversko-Donetsk БУВР Nataliia Bilotserkivska highlighted the issue of anthropogenic impact on the surface water quality in the river basin Calmius in the Donetsk region taking into account the impact from uncontrolled territory.

The members of the Basin Council and the invited participants were briefed on the main trends in climate change, features of their impact on the waters of the Azov basin, as reported by Volodymyr Vorovka (Bogdan Khmelnitsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University) and Tetiana Sorokina (Zaporizhzhya Regional Center for Hydrometeorology).

In conclusion, participants of the meeting decided on the plan of work of the Basin Council for 2020 and listened to the report of the working group on the problems of the river basin of the Milk and Milk estuary.
