The Department of Economics and Business has a rich history, valuable experience, and significant achievements, as it began its activities as one of the first departments at our university. The department has gone through various stages of development since its establishment in 1962. Throughout its existence, the department’s work has been focused on maintaining the university’s high reputation as an institution dedicated to preparing future professionals. The success and accomplishments of the department over the years have been driven by individuals who have dedicated their lives to the profession and are truly passionate about shaping the next generation of professionals.

In 1962, the Department of Political Economy and Agricultural Economics was established at Melitopol Institute of Mechanization, later renamed the Department of Economic Theory in 1993. Over fifty years, it was led by various individuals, including Volkova L.M., Hlystov O.V., Dudkina G.Ya., Parshin B.A., Krutya O.K., and Ozhalevska T.S.

In July 2016, the department was renamed “Department of Economics,” focusing on preparing economists for diverse Ukrainian enterprises and international relations. In 2019, it was renamed the Department of Business Consulting and International Tourism, specializing in fields such as economics and tourism.

In 1967, to enhance economic education for technical professionals, the Department of Economics and Organization of Agricultural Production was created, led by Pіkalov H.K. In 1990, it split into two: Economics and Management in Agriculture and Production Organization and Agribusiness.

Despite name changes, the mission remained consistent: training economists for various Ukrainian enterprises. In June 2022, the Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Exchange Activities Department merged with the Business Consulting and International Tourism Department, forming the Economics and Business Department.

The Department of Economics and Business was established on June 30, 2022, through the merger of the entrepreneurship, trade and stock exchange, and business consulting, as well as international tourism departments, which were part of the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Today, it stands as a leading department at Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University, headed by Boltianska L.O., Associate Professor and Candidate of Economic Sciences.
