Department of Economics and Business
The Department of Economics and Business is one of the leading departments of Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University. High education, pedagogical skill, practical experience of the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department provide an opportunity to train specialists at a level that ensures their competitiveness in the labour market, activates creative, professional and social activities to enrich the intellectual potential of the nation.
The department’s mission is to develop a creative personality – a highly qualified specialist who is able to make informed decisions in market conditions and bear responsibility for the effectiveness of the company’s activities and own business.
The department prepares students of all levels in the following specialities:
- 051 Economics (EP Economic Consulting and Business Economics, EP Economic Cybernetics and Business Programming)
- 076 Entrepreneurship, Trade and Exchange Activity (EP Entrepreneurship and Business Technologies (educational level Bachelor),
- 242 Tourism (EP Tourism)
The educational and professional program Economic Consulting and Business Economics is aimed at providing fundamental theoretical and practical training of professionals in the field of economics and consulting. The program makes it possible to master the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide professional consulting services on various economic, legal, managerial and ethical problems of the activity and development of business organizations at the national and international levels, to run an effective and competitive consulting business on an innovative basis.
The educational and professional program Economic Cybernetics and Business Programming allows mastering the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide professional consulting services on various economic, legal, managerial and ethical problems of the activity and development of business organizations at the national and international levels, leading on an innovative basis of effective and competitive consulting business.
The educational and professional program Entrepreneurship and Business Technologies trains highly qualified specialists with a high level of national consciousness, independent thinking, who possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the analysis and evaluation of entrepreneurial, trade and stock market activities, are able to make effective decisions in these areas, use modern technologies in the practice of management and have the ability to learn throughout their life.
The purpose of the educational and professional program Tourism is to provide training of highly qualified specialists in the field of recreation and tourism who possess the appropriate competencies, abilities and skills for successful work in the tourism business, which allow them to be environmentally responsible, socially mobile and in demand on the labour market.
In the process of training specialists, the main functions of education are implemented: acquisition of theoretical knowledge, abilities and practical skills; orienting students to the cognitive potential development of the individual, their creative and professional abilities with an emphasis on self-education. Students of higher education study a complex of disciplines on generating a business idea into a clearly formed business plan; the organization of entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activities, the foundations of the modern economy functioning at the micro-, meso-, macro- and international levels. Graduates acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the organization and effective conduct of their own business and the implementation of business projects, the organization and implementation of trade activities, acquire the ability to use modern information and communication technologies and demonstrate the ability to independently identify problems of economic nature when analysing specific situations, to propose ways to solve them.
Thee scientific and pedagogical staff of the department carries out their activities in accordance with the global educational space. Active cooperation with business is conducted, educational programs for the training of specialists are constantly improved and updated, modern information technologies are introduced, cooperation with leading universities and scientific centres is developed, the material and technical base is modernized, and methodical support is improved.
The educational process at the department is fully equipped with interactive complexes of educational disciplines in the section of each discipline, thanks to which students can receive full methodical support in electronic form, which will ultimately contribute to saving students’ time and increasing the efficiency of independent work.
Graduates of the specialities are competitive specialists in many fields, as they acquire competences that have a wide range of applications: from material production to the service sector, from private business to state institutions and public organizations. Graduates of higher education receive a high level of knowledge in economics, business organization, finance, management, planning, production organization, social and labour relations, accounting, marketing activities, and logistics. Future specialists possess professional knowledge and skills in optimizing profit and tax collections, analysing the effectiveness of foreign economic activity, and also have the necessary knowledge base on legal issues of enterprise activity and management basics. Graduates of the department successfully work at enterprises of various forms of ownership, in many commercial organizations, local self-government bodies, as well as in educational institutions training specialists of the relevant profile.
