Employees of the department take an active part in the state-budget scientific research program. The results of scientific research are reported by graduate students and teachers at scientific conferences. The most important research results are published in specialized scientific publications – Proceedings of TDATU and the electronic publication Scientific Bulletin of TDATU, journals that are included in international scientometric databases, in particular Web of Science, Scopus and others. All-Ukrainian scientific and practical internet conference “Modern problems of innovative development of electrical engineering” held at the department with the involvement of leading scientists has become traditional.

More than 150 patents for inventions and utility models have been obtained.

The department holds round tables, seminars on the issues of power engineering, electrical engineering and electromechanics with invitations from production representatives.

Scientific works of the department are demonstrated at scientific and technical exhibitions and implemented in the farms of Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.

Scientific and research activity of the department makes it possible to identify the most capable, talented and inclined for research work students. Scientific research of the research groups is carried out on modern problems of using electric energy in the form of electric fields and electric current, its preliminary transformation into other types of energy (light, thermal, magnetic and acoustic) for direct impact on biological objects and products as well as increasing the efficiency of thermal energy use in thermal technology installations and devices.

The results of writing scientific articles, participation in All-Ukrainian Olympiads, All-Ukrainian contests of student scientific works, and scientific conferences testify to the high level of students’ training. Active implementation of scientific ideas occurs through invention. According to the results of the students’ work, in cooperation with the instructors of the department, more than 120 patents for utility models have been obtained.

The results of scientific and research work are actively used in the educational process, in lecture courses, in the execution of diploma projects.
