In April 2021 American Councils for International Education under the project “Academic Integrity and Quality Initiative” on Zoom platform conducted trainings “Working with data and strategizing to strengthen Academic Integrity and Quality Policies” which lasted 5 days according to the event program.

Almost 130 representatives from 60 Ukrainian universities, participants of the project. Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Ph.D., Associate Professor Alexander Lomeyko, Head of the Scientific and Methodological Center, Ph.D., Associate Professor Natalia Boltyansky, Head of the Department for Monitoring the Quality of Educational Activities, Ph.D., Associate Professor Radmila Sklyar.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from representatives of the U.S. Embassy, American Councils for International Education, the project manager and event moderator Yana Chapailo.

David Rettinger, University of Mary Washington (USA), Tricia Bertram Gallant, University of California, San Diego (USA) and Amanda McKenzie, University of Waterloo (Canada) devoted the first session to monitoring and evaluating university capabilities in the context of Academic Integrity and Quality Initiative. Academic integrity is not just a value, it is a challenge to the usual functioning of things.

During the sessions, speakers presented the practical basics of conducting a survey: understanding the importance of survey research; conducting a survey: the components of organizing, analyzing, and reporting data; achieving survey data quality; and being able to analyze survey data and inform the public about it.

On the final day, representatives from the American Councils for International Education focused on university development strategies in the context of Academic Integrity and Quality Initiative, talking about their vision and their own practices of shaping a climate of academic integrity. Tricia Bertram Gallant commended the formation of a legislative basis for a policy of Academic Integrity in Ukraine.
