In April 2020 Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University successfully completed the process of certification of higher education quality assurance system for conformity with the new international quality standard ISO 9001:2015 «Quality management systems – Requirements» and the national quality standard DSTU ISO 9001: 2018.
According to the Law of Ukraine «On Higher Education», the Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University has a system of internal quality assurance of higher education.
Moreover, if the Law provided for the introduction of this system in all institutions of higher education from 2015, in TSATU such a quality management system (QMS) was created and has been in operation since 2005, and in 2009-2010, our university, one of the first not only among the agrarians, but in general all the ZNO of Ukraine, certified the system of quality assurance of higher education according to international quality standard ISO 9001:2008 and national standard of Ukraine DSTU ISO 9001:2009.
The main principles of this system are:
– systematic and regularity;
– student centrism;
– involvement of all stakeholders;
– transparency;
– universality;
– objectivity;
– avoiding conflicts of interest;
– minimal necessity of documents and procedures.
To ensure the effective functioning of the system, the University has an educational quality monitoring department whose main tasks are to monitor the quality of educational activities:
– monitoring the quality of educational programs through systematic survey of all stakeholders (employers, applicants for higher education, teachers and graduates) on its compliance with modern production requirements and standards of higher education;
– monitoring the quality of educational and methodical materials in educational disciplines in accordance with the requirements of the educational program;
– monitoring the quality of electronic training courses in all disciplines and specialties on the educational information portal of TSATU;
– monitoring the quality of training classes organization;
– monitoring the quality of diploma and course projects (works) execution and their plagiarism testing;
– rector examination of students’ knowledge in academic disciplines after the session;
– independent assessment of knowledge of applicants for higher education in academic disciplines before the exam session;
– organization of work of the school of pedagogical skills of teachers;
– rating estimation of activity of scientific-pedagogical workers and university departments.
It should be noted that since 2014 TSATU has created and implemented an automated system of educational process management, which allows to obtain at any time operational information regarding the attendance of students, the quality and success of knowledge from all academic disciplines, to develop and adjust the curricula, class layouts and electronic journals of the progress of applicants for higher education from all specialties of study forms, as well as to plan the study load of scientific and pedagogical workers.
Such a productive work on the part of TSATU management, all its structural subdivisions, especially the department of monitoring the quality of educational activities (Associate Professors Natalia Boltyansky, Radmila Sklyar, Sergey Malyuta), as well as the constant improvement and effective correction of quality management processes in the educational process and scientific activities, was officially identified by external auditors from the certification body of management systems in Ukraine according to ISO 9001 quality standards. A clear confirmation of this important event, especially in light of the new accreditation requirements of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education, is receiving certificates for compliance of the quality management system in TSATU with the requirements of the new international quality standard ISO 9001:2015 «Quality management systems – Requirements» and the national quality standard DSTU ISO 9001 2018.
