The Department of Processing and Food Production Equipment named after Professor F.Yu. Yalpachyk is part of the Mechanical and Technological Faculty and conducts classes in 26 disciplines for full-time and part-time students across three faculties of the university under the educational-professional program “Processing and Food Production Equipment” in the specialty 133 “Industrial Engineering”.
The Department of Processing and Food Production Equipment named after Professor F.Yu. Yalpachyk maintains constant contact with similar departments of regional universities, institutes, and universities of Ukraine. The department’s lecturers actively collaborate with key regional enterprises. As a result of such cooperation, relevant topics for the department’s research activities are formed.
To consolidate the knowledge acquired in the educational process, partnerships have been established with 15 leading processing enterprises in the Zaporizhzhia region, creating a strong internship base that includes two branches. This enables students to apply their knowledge in production and deepen their skills in their specialty.
The demand for specialists in processing and food production equipment is constantly growing, especially in the context of the market transition and Ukraine’s integration into the international information environment. 92% of graduates in specialty 133 “Industrial Engineering” are employed.
The department implements the most modern types of educational activities, including lectures, practical and laboratory classes, computer training, case studies, brainstorming sessions, business games, round tables, internships, control work, coursework, diploma projects, and industrial practice.
The department has created an exemplary educational complex with modern laboratories, a lecture hall, a computer lab, a course and diploma project room, and its own specialized library.
Since January 3, 2019, the Department of Processing and Food Production Equipment named after Professor F.Yu. Yalpachyk has been headed by Kyrylo Oleh Samoychuk.

The department hosts scientific groups involving third- and fourth-year students and master’s students of the Mechanical and Technological Faculty. Annually, based on student research, scientific conferences are held, and student research papers are published.
Based on the research results of the department’s lecturers, an annual collection of scientific papers is published, included in the list of specialized publications by the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine.
The department’s team actively participates in public and educational activities.
