On the 11th of February the world celebrates the Safer Internet Day. Organizations, universities and schools hold trainings, webinars and educational lectures on the rules of safe web surfing, information searching, mediated communication (messaging, e-mail usage and online chatting). Internet enthusiasts join forces across the globe to work together for the better Internet.

Internet users all over the world participate in surveys and have quizzes in order to estimate their Internet intelligence proficiency and improve digital and multimedia skills.

The students of the 3rd and 2nd years of ‘Computer Science’ and ‘Machine Building’ specialities participated in the informative and educational dispute «SAFER INTERNET FOR EVERYONE» at the department of foreign languages on the 11th of February.

The coordinators of the dispute – senior teachers Zaitseva N.V. and Symonenko S.V. – explained the risks emerging from careless using your own devices and sharing personal information on social media, reminded the audience of Academic Integrity imperative and demonstrated indiscretion and negligence consequences. Students also were given the “Test your Internet Safety IQ” quiz, counted the number of correct answers and, respectively, they learned the rules tested in puzzling statements which they initially failed to answer correctly.

The student of the group 21 ‘Machine Building’ Zalikanov Kyrylo prepared and presented a report accompanied by online-presentation on the most significant aspects of using the Internet. The report provided information on most frequently asked questions, demonstrated strategies of protecting personal information, stressed AntiSpyware product utility.

The following themes of the dispute were discussed most actively:

“Use Social Media Safely”

“Tips For Safe Internet Banking”

“Best Internet Safety Rules”

The leaders of debating, experts on safe Internet usage and confident English speakers are Semenov Yevhen (group 21CS), Stepanenko Oleksii  and Zalikanov Kyrylo (group 21 SMB).
