St. Patrick’s Day is a national Irish holiday and is celebrated every year all over the world. On March 17, residents of the UK, US, Argentina, Mexico, Japan and other countries become “a bit Irish”.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. At the age of 16, he was sold to slavery in Ireland. For six years, Patrick lived in slavery, but one night he had a dream in which a stranger told him that he should return home. The next day, the man was able to board the ship and go home. Later, he had another dream, in which thousands of Irish voices begged him to come back, and then he returned to Ireland. By the way, St. Patrick’s Day is associated with the adoption of Christianity in Ireland.

This year students of the groups 21 Geodesy and Land Surveying and 21 Food Technologies also joined the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day by taking part in an online quiz prepared for them by the teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages, V.V. Lemeshchenko-Lagoda and I.A. Kryvonos. The tests and interactive materials were uploaded onto the educational-information portal, where each student was able to take an active part and get acquainted with the history of the holiday and the traditions of celebration.

It is worth noting that students of individual and dual forms of study –  Bolzhelarska Tetiana, Hlimbotskyi Taras and Asanov Denys took an active participation in the quiz and showed a sufficient level of knowledge of Irish culture and traditions. However, the best result was shown by the students of 21 Geodesy and Land Surveying group – Ivashchenko Veronika, Erzanukaiev Danyl, Akatova Daria and Blud Vladyslav.

Each participant of the online quiz was awarded with an electronic certificate of participation.

We are very grateful to all participants for their active participation! Good luck with new experiences and achievements!
