Last Wednesday on the 21st of September the whole world celebrated the International Day of Peace. This Day was declared by the General Assembly as the day of strengthening the ideals of peace among all countries and peoples, both at the national and international levels. But true peace requires much more than a cessation of hostilities. It is necessary to build a society with equal opportunities for all people. This implies the creation of a world with the same treatment for all people, regardless of their race. The 2022 theme for the International Day of Peace is “End racism. Build peace.” Racism harms not just the lives of those who endure it, but also society as a whole. We all lose in a society characterized by discrimination, division, distrust, intolerance, and hate. The fight against racism is everyone’s fight. We all have a part to play in building a world beyond racism.

“No wonder Russia chose International Day of Peace to escalate its unjustified war with Ukraine. Ukraine needs peace on its own terms, respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”- the European leaders say.

This whole week the students (41OO, 21COO, 41ХТ, 31ГРС, 21ГРС, 11ГРС, 11СХТ, 41 ГЗ, 31 ГЗ) were proposed to get acquainted with the history of the adoption of this international day (watching the slides of the given presentation), take a quiz test and answer the question – “What is PEACE for you?” The quiz and the International Day of Peace Presentation were uploaded to the educational portal in students’ groups. Most of the students gave their definition of the PEACE – to live without war in Ukraine, in their own home with healthy relatives and have a bright peaceful future!

The English teachers (Iryna Kryvonos and Viktoria Lemeshchenko-Lagoda) thank their students for active part in such online event dedicated to the International Day of Peace and wish everyone to live in the peace. Let all conflicts be resolved peacefully everywhere, let all bitter grievances be forgotten, let only bright, kind and good remain in memory. May there be peace and comfort in all corners of our magical planet! Let each of its inhabitants feel completely and absolutely safe!
