The Department of “Agricultural Product Processing and Storage Technology” was established by the decision of the Scientific Council of TSATU on June 31, 2003, according to the order No. 354-K dated July 21, 2003. It resulted from the division of the department “Mechanization of Agricultural Product Processing and Storage” within the Faculty of APPST.
The head of the department MAPPS is Assoc. Prof. Nadiia Petrivna Zahorko.
In the same year, individuals from the MAPPS department joined APPST: Assoc. Prof. Z.G. Mykytynets, Assoc. Prof. M.Ye. Serdiuk, Assoc. Prof. O.P. Priss, Assoc. Prof. O.S. Myronicheva; Senior lecturer T.M. Panchenko; Assistants D.S. Stepanenko, O.V. Hryhorenko, V.V. Koliadenko, and from the “General Crop Farming” department – Assistant L.M. Kiurcheva. Additionally, supporting staff included the laboratory head A.P. Bebeshko, production training master V.S. Rakovskyi, senior laboratory assistants O.O. Kostrytska, O.V. Lysenko, and laboratory assistant A.G. Hromakov.
Following the university’s decision and TSATU order No. 2 OD dated August 3, 2007, a new faculty, “Agrotechnologies and Ecology,” was established, including the MAPPS department.
Since July 1, 2017, the department has been headed by Dr. of Technical Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Olesia Petrivna Priss, who defended her dissertation on the scientific basis of preserving fruits and vegetables using biologically active substances.
At present, the department graduates students in the specialties of 181 “Food Technologies” and 241 “Hotel and Restaurant Business,” offering courses across five university faculties in more than 50 disciplines.
By the decision of the TSATU Scientific Council, the department was renamed to the “Department of Food Technologies and Hotel-Restaurant Business” by order No. 11-OD on January 31, 2018.
